MLB: NY Mets 8, St. Louis 7

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday to give the New York Mets an 8-7 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Carlos Delgado had two homers, including a grand slam, and five RBI for the NL East-leading Mets, who rallied from a six-run deficit to gain their fifth straight win.

Albert Pujols also hit two homers, including a grand slam of his own, and drove in all seven runs for NL Central-leading St. Louis, which lost for just the third time in seven outings.

Beltran scored twice for New York, which recorded its 11th walk off win and 27th one-run victory of the season.Aaron Heilman (3-4) earned the win after working a perfect top of the ninth, striking out two.
