Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Driver Carl Edwards was fined $20,000 and put on probation by NASCAR Tuesday for his actions in the Carfax 250 at Michigan International Speedway.
Edwards was upset that Dale Earnhardt Jr. slammed into the back of his car Saturday, causing him to spin out early in the green-white-checkered finish. Earnhardt finished the race and Edwards, after regaining control of his car, later slammed into the side of Earnhardt's No. 8 Chevy.
"I didn't mean to spin him out. I don't go around wrecking people," Earnhardt said.
"He just wrecked me off (Turn) 2," Edwards said. "I just wanted to make sure he knew I was mad that he wrecked me. It's racing."
Edwards was not penalized any points for his actions.
