OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The Oakland Athletics have placed closer Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right groin.

The move is retroactive to Aug. 19.

Street was hurt in Oakland's 5-3 loss in the second game of the doubleheader Friday night in Kansas City.

He surrendered the tying and go-ahead runs in the Royals' four-run eighth inning.

"It's definitely really sore," Street told the Oakland Tribune. "For me to pull myself out of a game, it's going to be pretty bad."

Street is 4-3 with 29 saves and a 3.22 ERA in 57 appearances. He has 56 strikeouts and just 10 walks over 58 2/3 innings.

The 23-year-old right-hander is making his first trip to the DL.

He missed 12 games from April 19-May 1 with a muscle strain, but was not placed on the disabled list.
