MOSCOW, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Spain's Alejandro Canizares Sunday was a four-shot winner at the European Tour's Russia Open at Moscow.
His final score was a record 22-under 266 after a 6-under 66 in Sunday's final round.
It was Canizares' first victory on the tour.
"This is unbelievable," Canizares said. "This means everything. I was trying to get my card through exemptions. This is way beyond my expectations. Now I can focus on winning more."
By winning, Canizares, who turns 23 next month, secured a potential two-year exemption, as well as a place in the HSBC Champions tournament at the end of the year.
David Drysdale (69) of Scotland, who began the tournament with a record 10-under 62, finished second at 18-under 266.
Last year's champion, Mikael Lundberg (70) of Sweden, and Ireland's Gary Murphy (68) tied for third at 17-under 271.
