MLB: N.Y. Yankees 12, Boston 4

BOSTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Johnny Damon had a two-run homer and a two-run single Friday, as the New York Yankees beat Boston, 12-4, in the opener of a day-night doubleheader.

Jason Giambi had two RBI; Robinson Cano had two hits and two RBI; Derek Jeter had two hits and one RBI; while Bobby Abreu had a run and four hits for the Yankees (71-48), who have split their last four games.

Winner Chien-Ming Wang (14-5) gave up three runs on seven hits over six innings.

Alex Gonzalez knocked in two runs; Manny Ramirez hit a solo homer; Kevin Youkilis hit an RBI double; and Mark Loretta had three hits for the Red Sox (69-51), who have dropped three of their last four games.

Loser Jason Johnson (3-12) gave up four runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
