Nadal, Roddick advance at Cincinnati

MASON, Ohio, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick Thursday won their third-round matches at the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters in Mason, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb.

Nadal, the No. 2 seed, beat No. 14 Tommy Haas, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Roddick, the ninth seed, was a 6-3, 6-4, winner over Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela.

In other matches, No. 4 Ivan Ljubicic beat 16th-seed Dominik Hrbaty, 7-5, 6-4; seventh-seeded Tommy Robredo trounced Florent Serra, 6-3, 6-1; No. 10 David Ferrer beat eighth-seeded Marcos Baghdatis, 7-5, 6-4; No. 13 Fernando Gonzalez topped Stanislas Wawrinka, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5; Andy Murray beat 15th-seeded Robby Ginepri, 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-4; and Juan Carlos Ferrero beat Robin Soderling, 7-5, 6-4.
