MEDINAH, Ill., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Lucas Glover and Chris Riley both shot 6-under 66 Thursday and share the lead after one round of the PGA Championship at Medinah, Ill.
They overcame the attention given the PGA's top two players -- Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Woods won the British Open and Mickelson is the defending champion and reigning Masters winner.
Along with U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, Jonathan Byrd, Harrison Frazar, Fred Funk and five others, Woods and Mickelson shot 3-under 69 to tie for 10th place.
"We all understand there's a long way," said Woods, who won his first of two consecutive PGA Championships at Medinah in 1999. "We have to keep plugging along and we all did that today. We missed a couple shots here and there and got up and down."
"I felt like I was playing a lot better than I showed today," said Mickelson.
Billy Andrade shot 5-under 67 and is alone in third place.
