MLB: Detroit 4, Texas 2

DETROIT, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Sean Casey, Omar Infante, Dmitri Young and Carlos Guillen each knocked in one run Thursday night as Detroit beat the Texas Rangers, 4-2.

Casey, Infante and Young all had RBI singles; Guillen hit a solo home run and finished with two runs and two hits; Ivan Rodriguez had a run and three hits; and Craig Monroe had one run and two hits for the Tigers (79-42), who have split their last six games.

Winning pitcher Kenny Rogers (12-6) gave up two runs and five hits in five innings with five walks and one strikeout.

Todd Jones recorded his 34th save.

Mark DeRosa drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk; Ian Kinsler hit an RBI groundout; and both Michael Young and Hank Blalock had two hits for the Rangers (62-60), who have split their last four games.

Loser Edinson Volquez (1-2) surrendered three runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings with three walks and one strikeout.
