Clijsters falls in Montreal

MONTREAL, Ontario, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Kim Clijsters retired because of injury Wednesday night in the second set of her second-round match at the Rogers Cup Tennis Tournament in Montreal.

She lost to unseeded Stephanie Dubois of Canada, 6-1, 2-3.

No. 3 Nadia Petrova of Russia lost to unseeded fellow Russian Anna Chakvetadze, 6-1, 6-4; fourth-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia topped Marta Domachowska of Poland, 6-3, 6-1; and No. 6 Anastasia Myskina of Russia was beaten by Israel's Shahar Peer, 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 6-4.

Ninth-seeded Dinara Safina of Russia; No. 11 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia; No. 13 Ana Ivanovic of Serbia; 14th-seeded Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia; and non-seeds Ai Sugiyama of Japan, Shenay Perry of the United States, Natalie Dechy and Marion Bartoli of France, all won their matches Wednesday.
