WATKINS GLEN, N.Y., Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag at Sunday's Nextel Cup race, the AMD at the Glen, in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

His No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet crossed the finish line 0.892 seconds ahead of Tony Stewart, giving Harvick his second win of the season.

He won the race by passing Stewart with three laps left.

"I knew my only shot to get him back was getting into (Turn) 1," Harvick said about passing Stewart. "I knew I was only going to have a couple of chances, so I took my chance, it stuck, and I went on by."

Harvick moved up one spot to third in the points standings.

Jamie McMurray was third, Robby Gordon was fourth and Carl Edwards fifth.

Scott Pruett, Elliott Sadler, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin completed the top 10 finishers.

Jimmie Johnson is the points leader and Matt Kenseth is second.
