MLB: Pittsburgh 3, St. Louis 2

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A sacrifice fly by Jason Bay in the bottom of the sixth inning Saturday night gave Pittsburgh a 3-2 victory over St. Louis.

Freddy Sanchez and Jeromy Burnitz hit RBI singles; Chris Duffy had two runs and three hits; and Sanchez also had three hits for the Pirates (44-73), who have won twice in their last three games.

Winning pitcher Ian Snell (10-8) yielded two runs and five hits in seven innings with three walks and six strikeouts. Mike Gonzalez recorded his 20th save.

Albert Pujols hit a two-run homer, and no player had more than one hit for the fading Cardinals (62-54), who have dropped two in a row and six of their last 10 games.

Loser Jeff Weaver (2-3) gave up three runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
