Henin-Hardenne withdraws from Rogers Cup

MONTREAL, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Justine Henin-Hardenne, the reigning French Open tennis champion, Friday dropped out of next week's Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Henin-Hardenne of Belgium said she suffers from an injured knee. Amelie Mauresmo, who defeated Henin-Hardenne in the finals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year, and Venus Williams also withdrew this week because of injuries.

Since Wimbledon, Henin-Hardenne has not been involved in tournament play. She won the Rogers Cup in 2003 in Toronto and was runner-up last year in Toronto. The event is played in alternate years in Toronto and Montreal.
