HOUSTON, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Santino Quaranta scored the only goal to give his new team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, their sixth win of the season, a 1-0 win over Houston Wednesday night.

Quaranta scored in the 69th minute. The Galaxy has 23 points, and trails fourth-place Chivas USA by four points in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles acquired Quaranta from D.C. United just hours before the game, in exchange for a partial allocation and a conditional 2008 MLS SuperDraft selection.

The Dynamo lost their fifth game of the season, but remained in second place in the West, seven points behind FC Dallas.

The Galaxy put up their fifth shutout in six games.
