MLB: St. Louis 7, Milwaukee 1

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A three-run homer by Juan Encarnacion Sunday afternoon helped St. Louis beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-1.

Scott Rolen smacked a two-run homer; So Taguchi hit an RBI double; Ronny Belliard hit a run-scoring single; and Albert Pujols had two runs and three hits for the Cardinals (60-50), who have won two in a row after an eight-game losing streak.

Winner Jeff Suppan (9-6) gave up one run and four hits over 7 1/3 innings with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Former Atlanta Brave Jorge Sosa earned his fourth save. St. Louis acquired Sosa on waivers.

A solo home run by Mike Rivera produced the Milwaukee run, while both Kevin Mench and Tony Graffanino had two hits for the Brewers (52-59), who have split their last four games.

In six innings, losing pitcher Chris Capuano (10-8) gave up four runs and seven hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
