Button captures the Hungarian Grand Prix

BUDAPEST, Hungary, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Jenson Button, driving a Honda, Sunday won the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix auto race on a rainy day in Budapest.

It was the first career win in 113 Grand Prix events for the 26-year-old native of England, who dropped out of four earlier races this season.

His improbable victory came after he started in the 14th position.

"We were a real thinking team today," said a jubilant Button. "We thought hard about our strategy and we won not just because we had speed, but also because we had the strategy. The last lap felt amazing. In fact, over the last 10 (laps) I didn't want the race to end."

Pedro de la Rosa (McLaren-Mercedes) was second; Nick Heidfeld (Sauber-BMW) third; Rubens Barrichello (Honda) fourth; and David Coulthard (RBR-Ferrari) finished fifth.

In the points race, No. 1 Michael Schumacher leads second place Fernando Alonso, 100-89.
