Strange takes three-shot lead at 3M

BLAINE, Minn., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Curtis Strange shot a 6-under 66 Saturday to take the second-round lead at the seniors 3M Championship in Blaine, Minn.

At 10-under 134, Strange is three strokes ahead of tour rookie David Edwards in his bid for his first Champions Tour title.

Strange, winless since joining the elder circuit at the beginning of last year, has not won an official event since his second consecutive U.S. Open victory in 1989.

Edwards shot a 4-under 68 and is in second place at 7-under 137. He also has yet to win on the 50-and-over tour.

Morris Hatalsky, with a 66 Saturday, is tied for third at 138 with Craig Stadler, who had 67 in round two.

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Rick Rhoden shot a 67 Saturday. He is tied for fifth at 139 with D.A. Weibring (69), Bruce Fleisher (69), Hale Irwin (70), Brad Bryant (70) and Loren Roberts (71).
