Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga., July 31 (UPI) -- Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Brian Finneran is out for the season after suffering a serious knee injury during a training camp workout.
An MRI on Monday confirmed that Finneran tore the anterior cruciate ligament and also sustained cartilage damage and a slight displacement of the knee cap Sunday night. He will undergo surgery on Wednesday or Thursday.
Finneran fell to the ground in pain while planting his foot during a pass route.
Finneran caught 50 passes for 611 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games, including seven starts, last season.
