
NEW YORK, July 30 (UPI) -- Johnny Damon hit two solo home runs Sunday afternoon to lead the New York Yankees over Tampa Bay, 4-2.
Damon had three runs, three hits, and two RBI; Derek Jeter had two hits and two RBI; Miguel Cairo had a run and a hit; and Aaron Guiel had two hits for the Yankees (61-41), who bounced back from a 19-6 pasting on Saturday.
In seven innings, winner Mike Mussina (13-3) yielded five hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Mariano Rivera earned his 26th save of the year.
Johnny Gomes and Tomas Peres each hit RBI singles for the Devil Rays (43-62), who have lost three of their last four games overall.
Loser James Shields (4-5) gave up four runs and eight hits in seven innings.
After the contest, the Yankees said they acquired all-star right-fielder Bobby Abreu and starter Corey Lidle from Philadelphia group of minor league prospects.
