Pavin is in search of his 15th win on the PGA Tour, but his first since the 1996 Colonial. The 1995 U.S. Open winner has not even shared a 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour since the Players Championship the same year he won his only major at Shinnecock Hills.

The 46-year-old Pavin will assist U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman in September.

Saturday, after he completed his second round, Pavin matched the tour record for lowest opening 36-hole score with a 125.

Jerry Kelly, who refers to this tournament as his fifth major, turned in a 6-under 64 on Saturday and is in second place at 15-under 195.

Loren Roberts leads at Turnberry

TURNBERRY, Scotland, July 29 (UPI) -- Loren Roberts has a four-shot advantage after three rounds of the Senior British Open Golf Tournament in Turnberry, Scotland.

In bad weather Saturday, Roberts shot 1-under 69 to move to 11-under 199.

"We've got 18 holes to go, so I don't really want to think about it really," Roberts said. "I've had a nice career on the tour, but to win this championship, I just think it would be a feather in my cap. I could feel like I've been fulfilled."

Eduardo Romero (73) is in second place at 7-under 203, Tim Simpson (72) is third at 5-under 205, and four players are tied for fourth at 2-under 208.

"I am second, four behind, but if the weather continues like this (Sunday), then four shots is nothing," said Romero. "A 73 is a good score today. Loren played really good and he is one of the best putters in the world."
