MLB: N.Y. Mets 6, Atlanta 4

ATLANTA, July 28 (UPI) -- A sacrifice fly in the third inning Friday night by Jose Valentin produced the game-winning run as the New York Mets beat Atlanta, 6-4.

David Wright and Jose Reyes hit solo home runs; Carlos Beltran hit a two-run single; Julio Franco hit a run-scoring single; and Reyes, Wright and Beltran all had two hits for the Mets (61-41), who have won two in a row after a three-game losing streak.

In his first start after missing a month because of a right hip ailment and a bout with food poisoning, winner Pedro Martinez (8-4) allowed four runs and five hits in six innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

Billy Wagner recorded his 21st save.

Andruw Jones hit a two-run double, Jeff Francoeur doubled in a run, and Brian McCann hit a sacrifice fly for the Braves (48-54), who have lost three of their last four games.

The loser was Horacio Ramirez (5-4).
