UMAG, Croatia, July 29 (UPI) -- Serb Novak Djokovic had to play four sets Saturday in the rain-delayed Croatia Open before joining Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka for Sunday's final.
Djokovic, who won his first career title last week in the Netherlands, first beat Jiri Vanek in three tough sets Saturday to finish a rain-delayed quarterfinal, and then defeated four-time champion Carlos Moya.
Djokovic, 19, started Saturday with a set in hand, but Vanek won the second set before the fourth-seeded Djokovic survived to claim a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5, triumph. Hours later, Djokovic defeated Moya, 6-1, 7-5.
Fourth-seeded Moya was last year's runner-up to Guillermo Coria and won the title in 1996 and from 2001-03.
Wawrinka beat eighth-seeded Italian Filippo Volandri, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. He denied Volandri his third trip to the final in four years.
