Smashnova, from Israel, who celebrated her 30th birthday on July 16, beat her Colombian opponent by the same score last year. The scores of the rematch of last year's Budapest final were 6-2, 6-2.
Her semifinal opponent will be unseeded Martina Muller of Germany, who was a 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 6-1 winner over qualifier Eva Birnerova of the Czech Republic.
Also on Friday, second-seeded Michaella Krajicek of Netherlands beat qualifier Sara Errani of Italy, 6-4, 6-4 and No. 5 Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain beat Romina Oprandi of Italy, 6-3, 6-0.
Dominguez Lino plays Krajicek in the other semifinal on Saturday.
The 2006 champion will pocket $22,900.
