
DENVER, July 27 (UPI) -- An RBI single by Jamey Carroll in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday night gave the Colorado Rockies a 9-8 win over the San Diego Padres.
Yorvit Torrealba had two runs, three hits, including a two-run homer; and three RBI; Todd Helton had two runs, two hits, and an RBI; Carroll had one run, two hits, and two RBI; while Garrett Atkins had a run and three hits for the Rockies (48-53), who have split their last four games.
The winner was closer Brian Fuentes (3-3).
Josh Barfield hit two two-run homers; Mike Piazza smacked a two-run homer; Brian Giles had two runs, two hits, including a solo homer, and two RBI; and Khalil Greene had two runs and three RBI for the Padres (54-48), who had a four-game winning streak snapped.
The losing pitcher was Scott Williamson (2-4).
