CLEVELAND, July 28 (UPI) -- Jeremy Sowers threw a complete game five-hit shutout Friday night as Cleveland edged the Seattle Mariners, 1-0.

It was Sowers' second straight shutout.

The game's lone run scored on a solo home run in the sixth inning by the recently acquired Shin-Soo Choo. Joe Inglett had two of the six hits for the Indians (45-56), who have won twice in their last three games.

Sowers (3-3) walked one batter and struck out three.

Cleveland got Choo from Seattle for first baseman Ben Broussard and cash on Wednesday.

Ichiro Suzuki and Adrian Beltre each had two hits for the Mariners (49-53), who have lost two of their last three games.

Losing pitcher Felix Hernandez (9-9) yielded a run and four hits in six innings with six walks and five strikeouts.
