
KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 26 (UPI) -- Jeff Conine had two runs and four hits, including a solo homer, as Baltimore edged the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, Wednesday night.
Nick Markakis had two hits, including an RBI single; Chris Gomez had two runs and two hits; and Melvin Mora had three hits for the Orioles (46-56), who have won two of their last three games.
In five-plus innings, winner Adam Loewen (1-2) scattered one run and seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Chris Ray recorded his 25th save.
Shane Costa had two hits and three RBI; Emil Brown had a run and three hits; while David DeJesus had two hits for the Royals (35-65), who have dropped three of their last four games.
Losing pitcher Runelvys Hernandez (2-5) surrendered four runs and 10 hits in five-plus innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
