WASHINGTON, July 23 (UPI) -- Ryan Church and Alfonso Soriano homered Sunday afternoon as Washington ripped the Chicago Cubs, 7-1, finishing a three-game sweep.
Church, in his first game since returning from Triple-A New Orleans, blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, which is when Soriano hit a solo shot.
Felipe Lopez had two hits and two RBI for the Nationals (43-56), who have three wins in their last four games.
Winner Tony Armas (7-5) gave up one run and only three hits in seven innings with a walk and three strikeouts.
Neifi Perez hit a sacrifice fly; and Juan Pierre had a run and two hits for the Cubs (37-60), who have dropped three straight and four of their last five games. The loser was Carlos Marmol (3-4).
The Cubs' Aramis Ramirez, who hit two home runs in each game before Sunday, had a single in four trips.
Church was recalled Saturday.
