
PHOENIX, July 23 (UPI) -- Luis Gonzalez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday night as Arizona beat the Colorado Rockies, 4-3.
Carlos Quentin and Chad Tracy also hit solo homers, Quentin added an RBI double, and Johnny Estrada had a run and two hits for the Diamondbacks (50-47), who ran their winning streak to four games.
The winner was reliever Brandon Medders (4-2). Jorge Julio earned his 12th save.
Garrett Atkins hit a two-run home run and Jamey Carroll hit a solo shot for the Rockies (45-51), who had only four hits. Colorado has lost three in a row and 11 of its last 12 games.
The losing pitcher was Jose Mesa (0-4).
With the win, Arizona is tied with San Diego for second place in the National League West, 1/2 game behind San Francisco.
