Djokovic wins the Dutch Open

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands, July 23 (UPI) -- Novak Djokovic beat Nicholas Massu Sunday in straight sets to win the Dutch Open Tennis Tournament in Amersfoort, Netherlands.

The scores were 7-6 (7-5) and 6-4.

It was the first ATP Tour title for the 19-year-old native of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, in the first final of his career.

Djokovic, who won $55,000, is the sixth first-time winner of the tour this season.

The others are Finland's Jarkko Nieminen; Andy Murray of England; Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic; Peru's Luis Horna; Spain's Nicolas Almagro; and Daniele Bracciali of Italy.

In the match, which lasted nearly three hours, Massu actually won more points in the opening set (49-48). Djokovic had nine aces and two service breaks (both in the second set) to one for Massu, who was after his second title at this event and the seventh of his career.

Massu won the tournament in 2003.
