MLB: LA Angels 4, Kansas City 3 (10)

KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 22 (UPI) -- Reggie Willits hit an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning Saturday night as the Los Angeles Angels edged Kansas City, 4-3.

Maicer Izturis hit an RBI triple, Vladimir Guerrero hit a run-scoring ground-out, and a run scored on a wild pitch by Kansas City closer Ambiorix Burgos, as the Angels (49-48) broke a three-game losing streak.

In relief, the winner was Scot Shields (6-6). Francisco Rodriguez earned his 24th save.

Doug Mientkiewicz and Tony Graffanino hit RBI doubles, Shane Costa hit an RBI single, and David DeJesus had a run and three hits for the Royals (34-63), who had won their previous two games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Todd Wellemeyer (0-3).

Both Graffanino and Kansas City Manager Buddy Bell were ejected by home plate umpire Joe West in the bottom of the eighth after arguing balls and strikes calls.
