Massu, Moya advance in Amersfoort

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands, July 19 (UPI) -- Nicolas Massu and former French Open champion Carlos Moya of Spain were winners Wednesday at the Dutch Open Tennis Tournament in Amersfoort, Netherlands.

Massu, an Olympic gold medalist and the fourth seed, beat Juan Antonio Marin of Costa Rica, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) and Moya topped qualifier Fabio Fognini of Italy, 7-5, 6-3.

In other matches, No. 6 Alberto Martin of Spain beat Edgardo Massa of Argentina, 6-2, 6-4 and fellow Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over second-seeded Paul-Henri Mathieu of France.

The second round of the clay-court tournament concludes on Thursday, when one match features top-seeded Guillermo Coria and fellow Argentine Sergio Roitman.
