MLB: Seattle 3, N.Y. Yankees 2

NEW YORK, July 19 (UPI) -- Raul Ibanez hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday afternoon as Seattle edged the New York Yankees, 3-2.

Richie Sexson hit a solo homer, Adrian Beltre hit an RBI double, Ichiro Suzuki had two runs and three hits, and Yuniesky Betancourt had two hits for the Mariners (45-50), who won for only the third time in their last 13 games.

The winner in relief was Mark Lowe (1-0) while J.J. Putz earned his 18th save.

Derek Jeter hit an RBI single, Andy Phillips hit an RBI double and Alex Rodriguez had a run and two hits for the Yankees (55-37), whose five-game winning streak was snapped.

Losing pitcher Randy Johnson (10-8) gave up three runs and seven hits in eight innings with one walk and 11 strikeouts.
