PITTSBURGH, July 15 (UPI) -- Ronny Paulino's game winning single in the ninth gave the Pittsburgh Pirates a 7-6 win over Washington Saturday night.
Pittsburgh has won two straight games for the first time in more than a month.
After Nationals reliever Roy Corcoran walked Jason Bay, Sean Casey singled and Jose Hernandez reached on a pinch-hit bunt to load the bases with no outs in the ninth -- before Paulino laced his game-winning line drive to centerfield with one out.
Mike Gonzalez worked the top of the ninth for the win to even his record at 3-3.
Alfonso Soriano had a home run for the Nationals, who lost their fifth straight game.
Washington starter Pedro Astacio surrendered five runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 inning before giving way for Corcoran, who gave up two runs and fell to 0-1.
