Frenchman Gasquet wins Swiss Open tennis

GSTAAD, Switzerland, July 16 (UPI) -- Seventh-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet won his third career title Sunday, defeating sixth-seeded Spaniard Feliciano Lopez at the Swiss Open in Gstaad.

Gasquet, 20, defeated Lopez, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-3, for his second title in his last three events. He won at Nottingham in June.

Gasquet has won 10 of his last 11 matches. This was his fifth finals appearance and he earned $74,505.

Lopez, 24, fell to 0-3 in his career against Gasquet on their first-ever meeting on clay. The Spaniard was playing in his first final since last August at New Haven.

He has just one title -- at Vienna in 2004 -- in four final appearances.
