Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

SILVIS, Ill., July 13 (UPI) -- Michelle Wie had a 6-over 77 Thursday and was in danger of missing the cut at the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic at Silvis, Ill.
"It was just my evil twin sister playing," said Wie, 16, who is making another bid to become the first woman to make the cut for a PGA event since Babe Didrikson Zaharias in 1945.
Wie ran into trouble after making par on the 10th hole at the TPC at Deere Run, carding bogies on the 11th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes. She has missed the cut at four previous PGA Tour tournaments.
Zach Johnson, 2002 champion J.P. Hayes, John Senden and Daniel Chopra were in a four-way lead at 7-under 64 before the opening round was suspended due to darkness.
