Minnesota Twins place Ford on 15-day DL

MINNEAPOLIS, July 13 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Twins put leftfielder Lew Ford on the 15-day disabled list after Thursday's 6-4 loss to Cleveland in Minneapolis.

Ford was batting .232 with three home runs when he strained an external oblique muscle in his right side and left the game in the fifth inning. Nick Punto moved from third to left to replace Ford.
