Three Mets out of All-Star Game

NEW YORK, July 10 (UPI) -- The New York Mets said Sunday that southpaw Tom Glavine and shortstop Jose Reyes will miss Tuesday's All-Star game at Pittsburgh.

On its Web site, the team said Glavine will be unavailable after starting Sunday against the Florida Marlins.

Reyes excused himself because Mets' doctors told him that his injured left pinky finger will not be healed in time for the contest.

That means three members of the National League East leaders are out of the game. Earlier, right-hander Pedro Martinez was excused because of because of a left hip ailment.

Glavine and Martinez will be replaced by fellow pitchers Chris Capuano of Milwaukee and Carlos Zambrano of the Chicago Cubs.

Unlike Martinez, Glavine and Reyes say they will attend the game at PNC Park.

Glavine leads the Mets with an 11-2 record; Martinez is 7-4 with 111 strikeouts in 101 2/3 innings; and Reyes is batting .300 with eight home runs and 41 RBI.
