HUTCHINSON, Kan., July 9 (UPI) -- Allen Doyle was a repeat winner Sunday at the U.S. Senior Open in Hutchinson, Kan.
Doyle rallied from a three-stroke deficit to beat local favorite Tom Watson by two shots.
In the final round, Doyle shot 2-under 68 to finish 8-under 272.
"One would have been great, obviously, two is unbelievable," said Doyle, who joined Gary Player (1987-88) and Miller Barber (1984-85) as the event's third repeat champion.
It was Doyle's 11th Champions Tour title and fourth major championship.
Watson, who led after the second and third rounds, shot a 2-over 72 in the final round to end at 6-under 274. He was after his fifth major championship on the Champions Tour, but finished as the runner-up for the third time at the U.S. Senior Open.
The Kansas City native bogeyed three holes on the front nine and two more on the back.
