NHL defenseman Weaver re-signs with Kings

LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Defenseman Mike Weaver has signed a one-year contract to remain with the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.

Terms of the pact were not released.

Weaver, 28, originally signed with the Kings as a free-agent in 2004 from the Atlanta Thrashers, and played in a career-high 53 games for Los Angeles last season.

He had nine points, all assists, and 14 penalty minutes.
