NEW YORK, July 4 (UPI) -- Xavier Nady had two RBI in the eighth inning Tuesday to lead the New York Mets to a 7-6 comeback win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Mets were trailing 6-4 heading into the eighth, but rallied for three runs.
Salomon Torres issued back-to-back walks to Carlos Delgado and David Wright before being lifted in favor of Roberto Hernandez. Endy Chavez' double scored Delgado. Nady followed by grounding a ball through the right side of the infield and Wright and Chavez both scored.
Nady was 3-for-4 with three RBI and Wright drove in two runs and scored two for the Mets, who had lost six of their previous seven games.
Duaner Sanchez (5-0) got the win by pitching a scoreless eighth inning in relief. Billy Wagner closed out Pittsburgh with a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 16th save of the year.
