MLB: Chi. White Sox 8, Chi. Cubs 6

CHICAGO, July 1 (UPI) -- A.J. Pierzynski hit a three-run homer with two out in the top of the ninth Saturday afternoon, giving the Chicago White Sox an 8-6 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Jim Thome, Joe Crede, and Paul Kornerko also hit home runs, Crede had three hits and Thome had two RBI for the White Sox (53-27), who have won two in a row and 19 of their last 24 games overall.

In relief, the winning pitcher was Neal Cotts (1-2). Bobby Jenks earned his 25th save.

Aramis Ramirez and Jacque Jones hit homers; Ramirez had three hits and drove in five runs; and Derrek Lee had two runs and two hits for the Cubs (29-51), who dropped into last place in the National League East Division with the eighth loss in their last nine games.

The loser was Ryan Dempster (1-5).

The White Sox are 14-4 in inter-league contests this season while the sank to 3-11 against American League teams.
