Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
BATON ROUGE, La., June 27 (UPI) -- Louisiana State University could have a new men's head baseball coach as early as Wednesday, the Baton Rouge (La.) Advocate reports.
Tigers Athletic Director Skip Berman was scheduled interview Notre Dame head coach Paul Mainieri for the vacant post Tuesday evening. Mainieri is a former Tiger and is odds-on favorite to get the job, the newspaper said.
Berman received permission to talk to Mainieri two weeks after Smoke Laval was forced to resign as baseball coach on June 4 after five years at the helm.
