NEW YORK, June 26 (UPI) -- New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday.
Reyes was the first major league player to hit for the cycle this season. He led the league with a .613 batting average, a 1.032 slugging percentage, a .613 on base percentage, 19 hits, 10 runs scored, two triples, 32 total bases and was tied for the league lead with four stolen bases.
Reyes added two home runs, both to lead off games, three doubles and three RBI. He had six multi-hit games, including three four-hit performances, raising his average from .272 at the beginning of last week to .302.
Reyes shared the weekly honors last week with teammate David Wright and became the first Met to win the award in back-to-back weeks since pitcher Jesse Orosco did it in 1983.
