BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., June 26 (UPI) -- Chris Armas and Thiago scored and the Chicago Fire snapped a five-game winless streak, beating the New York Red Bulls, 2-0, Sunday.

Zach Thornton made three saves to put up his second shutout of the season, as the Fire officially opened their new stadium with a victory before the team's first-ever home sellout.

Tony Meola made five saves for the Red Bulls, who saw a three-match unbeaten streak go by the boards.

Chicago moved out of last place in the Eastern Conference, swapping places with the Red Bulls.
