MINNEAPOLIS, June 24 (UPI) -- Boof Bonser and three relievers combined on a seven-hit shutout Saturday night as Minnesota beat the Chicago Cubs, 3-0, for its third straight victory.
Jason Kubel had one run, two hits and one RBI; Terry Tiffee hit a run-scoring single; and Jason Bartlett hit an RBI double for the Twins (38-35), who have 11 wins in their last 12 games.
In 6 1/3 innings, Bonser (2-1) scattered six hits, had no walks and one strikeout. Relievers Dennys Reyes, Juan Rincon and Joe Nathan gave up only one hit in 2 2/3 innings.
Nathan got his 12th save.
Phil Nevin had three hits for the Cubs (28-45), who have lost three of their last four games.
Losing pitcher Mark Prior (0-2) yielded three runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings with one walk and four strikeouts.
