Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, June 21 (UPI) -- D.C. United beat Chicago, 1-0, Wednesday night for its eighth straight game without a loss.
Clyde Simms scored the game's lone goal in the 17th minute, and Troy Perkins needed to make only one save for the United (8-1-5), who are in first place in the Eastern Conference with a Major League Soccer-best 29 points -- 12 better than second-place Kansas City.
The Fire (2-5-5), who have only 11 points, are last in the East.
Chicago has not earned a full three points in a match since May 20, and have just one point in its last five games.
The Fire took only one shot on goal to three for United.
