HANOVER, Germany, June 20 (UPI) -- Bartosz Bosacki scored a pair of goals Tuesday, helping Poland to a 2-1 victory over Costa Rica in the World Cup finale for both teams.

While the teams had already been eliminated from any chance of advancing, the game between Costa Rica and Poland was spirited. Aggressive play led to 20 Polish fouls and 12 by Costa Rica and each team had five players given yellow cards.

Bosacki's first goal came off a corner kick by Maciej Zurawski that Bosacki was able to finish and get past Costa Rica goalkeeper Jose Porras in the 33rd minute. The score evened the score at 1-1.

Poland made it 2-1 in the 66th minute off another corner kick when Bosacki was able to outfight Costa Rica's Paulo Wanchope for the ball and get the goal.

Costa Rica took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute after Wanchope was fouled. Ronald Gomez was chosen to take the free kick and powered it through the Poles' defensive wall and between the legs of goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

Poland wound up third in Group A with a 1-2-0 mark while Costa Rica, which didn't manage a goal after scoring twice against Germany in its opener, ended 0-3-0.
