HALLE, Germany, June 18 (UPI) -- Roger Federer beat Tomas Berdych, 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2 in Sunday's final of the Gerry Weber Open Tennis Tournament in Halle, Germany.
It gave the No. 1 men's player 41 straight wins in clay-court matches in his 15th consecutive final.
The streak tied five-time Wimbledon champion Bjorn Borg, who won 41 straight clay-court matches from 1976-81.
"This is a top moment for me," Federer said. "Coming straight after the French Open, it was a really tough week for me. Halle has always brought me luck. I hope that remains the case."
After losing the title match of the French Open to Rafael Nadal last Sunday, Federer struggled all week in this event.
He saved four match points before beating Olivier Rochus in the quarterfinals, was taken to a third and final set by Tommy Haas in the semifinals, and had to win a tie-breaker in the second set on Sunday.
