MLB: St. Louis 6, Pittsburgh 5

PITTSBURGH, June 15 (UPI) -- So Taguchi had two hits and two RBI Thursday afternoon as St. Louis edged the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5.

Chris Duncan had one run, three hits and one RBI; and Juan Encarnacion had one run, two hits and one RBI for the Cardinals (39-26), who won for the fourth time in their last six games.

In five innings, winner Mark Mulder (6-4) yielded four runs on nine hits while breaking a personal three-game losing streak.

Jason Isringhausen recorded his 22nd save.

Jose Bautista homered and knocked in two runs, while both Jose Castillo and Jeromy Burnitz also homered for the Pirates (26-41), who lost twice in the three-game series.

Losing pitcher Victor Santos dropped to 4-7.
