KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 11 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays hit six home runs Sunday and beat Kansas City, 8-2.
Jonny Gomes and Carl Crawford, who drove in three runs, each hit two homers; Aubrey Huff and Julio Lugo both homered once; and Rico Baldelli had four hits and one RBI for the Devil Rays (26-37), who have won two in a row after a three-game losing streak.
Winner James Shields (2-0) surrendered only six hits in six scoreless innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
Mark Grudzielanek and Doug Mientkiewicz each had one RBI, while both Grudzielanek and Mark Teahen had two hits for the Royals, who have lost two straight and five of their last seven games.
Losing pitcher Scott Elarton sank to 1-8.
