PARIS, June 6 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Kim Clijsters and fifth-seeded fellow Belgian Justine Henin- Hardenne will meet in Thursday's semifinals at the French Open.
Former world No. 1 Henin-Hardenne is the reigning French Open champ and has won 20 of her last 21 matches in the tournament, including the last 12 straight.
Clijsters defeated Swiss star Martina Hingis 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 Tuesday.
Reigning U.S. Open champion Clijsters, who will turn 23 Thursday, was the French Open runner-up in 2001 and 2003.
Henin-Hardenne defeated 13th-seeded German Anna-Lena Groenefeld 7-5, 6-2. Henin-Hardenne beat Clijsters in straight sets in the 2003 French Open finale.
Eleventh-seeded and former top-ranked Venus Williams lost to Czech Nicole Vaidisova 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3 Tuesday.
Vaidisova, 17, owns six WTA Tour titles, including one in Strasbourg, France the week before this tournament began.
Vaidisova will next face Svetlana Kuznetsova, who beat fellow Russian Dinara Safina 7-6 (7-5), 6-0.
Thursday's women winners will meet in the final on Saturday.
